Prospective Students
Digital Marketing Communication is a program
of studies designed for graduate students who are interested in learning
theoretical underpinnings of marketing communication while focusing on production
practices associated with interactive digital media. The goal is to prepare
each student to be competent in the production and management of digital
communication solutions. Completion of the degree program typically leads
to professional employment in a wide range of public and private sectors.
The theoretic studies within the program include the study of marketing communication.
This aspect of the program requires an understanding of systems and processes
in organizational, educational, governmental and marketing communication contexts.
Through these offerings students
have the opportunity to develop critical thinking, organizational and analytical
skills needed to effectively use written and digital media communication.
Students are provided extensive exposure to the tools, methodologies and techniques
typically required in production environments. By the conclusion of the specialization,
all students are competent in both developing digital communication solutions
and understanding how their role impacts business and institutional objectives.
The educational philosophy is derived from the notion that mastery of this subject area requires instruction on three levels.
- underlying principles or base science upon which interactive digital media rests
- practical application of these sciences in order to become familiar with concepts surrounding analysis procedures, problem solving and developing solutions in the framework of project based experiences.
- project-based experiences each student should learn the skills and attitudes that affect the performance of services as might be found in the context of professional situations using the principles and applied procedures.
The project management specialization focuses on effective
strategic planning and evaluation typically required of project managers
in corporate or communication agency firms. These courses are offered
to broaden experiences and understanding of the societal, political
and cultural impact of interactive communication in the context
of a professional environment.
The program faculty come from a diverse educational background. We take pride
